The place

About Alexandria

A breezy seafront city of Greco-Roman history, the modern Bibliotheca Alexandrina and long walks along the Corniche.

Founded by Alexander the Great, Alexandria was the capital of Ptolemaic Egypt and home to the legendary library. Today it is a relaxed Mediterranean city with a character all its own.

It works as a day trip from Cairo by road, or as a slower overnight stay with seafood by the harbor.
